I am a mother, artist, director, producer, and movement therapist/educator. I have been working in New York City as an independent artist/producer, professional dancer, licensed massage therapist, and yoga/anatomy teacher for over 15 years. I am also a Certified Stott Pilates Teacher, Yoga Tune Up® Teacher, FRC Mobility Specialist, and hold a BFA in Dance from FSU with a concentration on Performance, Movement Conditioning, and Kinesiology. I lead professional yoga and movement programs online and throughout the US. Continuing Education studies have long included the realm of Non-Violent Communication and empathetic, active listening; these are tools I use in my life, as an artist, a student, and a leader. I am also an experienced Birth Doula certified with Carriage House Birth.
My life has been immersed in movement from a whole body perspective with a perpetual propeller for more connection, self care, joy, and awareness. As my infinite studies have expanded, so have the questions in the spirit of learning. I hope that through listening, awareness, and clear communication we may reveal more understanding with our own inner and outer landscapes in turn creating more lasting and meaningful relationships with others.
I seek to offer a platform for people to find their authentic process of connection with the body, breath, and entire being. I have a passion for seeing every individual. I began practicing yoga in 1996 and have been studying kinesiology and teaching multiple movement disciplines for over 20 years. I have also taught as an adjunct dance professor at Georgia College & State University and Central Connecticut State University. With a background in structural bodywork, massage and movement therapy, implementing strength and conditioning, injury management, and using biomechanics to inform my teaching are areas of keen concentration. Passion, playfulness, and curiosity are fundamental components of my offerings and practice which help to ignite growth and self-study in this lifelong quest of inquiry.
Classes combine my love of movement, creativity, kinesiology, and anatomy to bring stability, clarity, and awareness to the body. Focus on the individual and the breath are paired with dynamic intelligent sequencing. With an educational and compassionate approach to movement I strive to blend the balance of strength and mobility, self-reflection, process, connection, and exploration of personal philosophy while encouraging students to find their own unique path to a continually evolving practice.
While I have been inspired by many teachers along my path, the best teachers are my students, my colleagues, and my own practice. A few of my most inspiring teachers are Carrie Owerko, Rodney Yee, Jill Miller, Irene Dowd, Jodie Rufty, and Greg Lehman. I have also been blessed to learn from the incredible cadavers who donated their bodies to science under the astute guidance of Tom Myers and Todd Garcia.
Featured teachings include the Bryant Park Summer Series in NYC, Time-Out New York, Fox News, Well+Good NYC, SHAPE, Vogue Korea, and The Traveller Korea. I have also taught with Athleta, Lululemon, Rapha NYC, and have helped to bring yoga to the workplace community with companies such as Moment Design, J.Crew, Bloomberg, Barbour, kbs+, and Women’s Expressive Theater among others.
